Berlin Fellowship Program: Empowering Journalists in the Digital Field

Reporters Without Borders Germany offers journalists from crisis areas the opportunity to complete a comprehensive training program on digital security and to become a multiplier for digital self-defense.

In 2025, a total of six fellowships for a period of six months each will be awarded to six journalists from crisis areas, who are facing threats from the digital sphere.
The program aims to provide in-depth knowledge and practical skills to the fellows so that they can better protect themselves against threats such as surveillance, digital violence or hacker attacks. In a second phase, the participants prepare their own training concept, through which they can pass on their newly acquired knowledge to colleagues in their home countries. In this way, journalists outside the fellowship can also benefit from the digital security skills taught during the program.

The program is funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises.
