Luis Assardo

Luis Assardo is a journalist and researcher from Guatemala and a current fellow of the Berlin Scholarship Program by RSF Germany. In 2017, Assardo founded Confirmado, a project that tackles the misinformation in Guatemala and reports on topics such as troll-factories, hate speech and fact-checking. Besides his work and research for Confirmado, in his work Assardo focuses on manipulation in electoral processes, paid disinformation campaigns and corruption. He has a professional background in criminology, emergency and crisis management.

Assardo has a degree in journalism, education and public safety administration. He works as a professor of multimedia journalism at the Universidad Panamericana, with the prior experience at the Universidad Del Istmo and Universidad Rafael Landivar as a journalism professor. Assardo was the 2015 International Center for Journalists Professional Fellow for Latin America.
